Background. I am an Associate Professor at the Laboratory of Geo-information Science and Remote Sensing, where I lead the radar remote sensing lab. I am fascinated by the use of radar remote sensing to investigate human activities in and the dynamics of forest ecosystems on scales ranging from local to global, with a strong emphasis on multi-sensor methods and near real-time change monitoring. Recently, I have become more interested in understanding how the combination of new radar satellite data and field data can aid in tracking fine-scale forest disturbances, such as selective logging, and in studying vegetation structure and disturbance severity.
