Partners

In this project we work closely together with stakeholders. First, the first plots are provided by the National Forest Service (in Dutch “Staatsbosbeheer”, 10 plots), National Park de Hoge Veluwe” (2 plots), Het Loo Royal Estate (1 plot), and the Central Government Real Estate Agency (Rijksvastgoedbeheer, 2 plots). In addition, Borgman Beheer and Staro B.V. and de Bosgroepen co-organized the implementation of the forest experiment in 2019.

The CSF-learning-app and CSF- decision support system are the products that will be developed in this project. We will collaborate with the Dutch Forest and Nature reserve owners association (Vereniging voor Bos en NatuurEigenaren, VBNE) to guarantee the accessibility and promotion of learning and application trajectories of these tools among Dutch forest managers.

We also collaborate with the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality (Ministerie van Landbouw, Natuur en Voedselkwaliteit, LNV). LNV finances Wageningen Environmental Research and 38 partners from the Dutch forestry sector to develop a CSF-toolbox for forest managers (the online ‘Gereedschapskist klimaatslimbosbeheer’) and financially contributes to our project too. Our focus on forest stand density management will provide a complementary contribution to this toolbox, and guide LNV policy decisions for CSF.

EFI is an international organization established by European states, with 29 states having ratified the convention on EFI. CSF has been picked up already in several countries. In order to enhance our impact, EFI will set up publicity campaigns to introduce our CSF tools to forest users across Europe.

Our forest experiment has also been added as experimental forest plots to a new European project, such as Holisoils: a project on the effects of forest management on soil carbon sequestration and storage at European scale.
